Why Deterrence School?

Deterrence School is a public service of the School of Defense and Strategic Studies (DSS) at Missouri State University: a podcast to encourage open dialogue on the challenges and threats in today’s international environment — and how to deter them. Deterrence School is linked to Defense and Strategic Studies Online (DASSO), a peer-reviewed journal published by DSS.

For all listeners, Deterrence School aims to deepen your understanding of national security issues and, at times, to question conventional wisdom about what it takes to preserve peace.

For the expert community, we aim to provide a forum where competing ideas about deterrence can be heard and debated.

For prospective students, Deterrence School aims to introduce you to our faculty and special guests and the problems you might grapple with as part of the DSS/MSU community.
